In Need of Courage [Open Rp]

lhistoiredesdiablesnumerique:

The demon dog had rushed off past its owner moments earlier, smelling something strange. Fur laced with thunder, yet not charred. A strange scent it couldn’t place. It coated the ground and walls of the cave with fire, lighting its own way around, until it saw another source. It kept low to the ground, growling lightly, before treading around the corner. The dog loped up to the injured woman and her strange pet, but keeping a safe distance and looking them over. Its maw glowed a faint red with fire, as it stared at the woman, barking once.

“Cerberus? Where’d you go? Dammit, it wasn’t this dark earlier!”

Elesa’s first assumption was that there were wild Arcanines in this cave. It was a rather foolish thought, since it was much more likely that she’d come across wild Excadrill or Gavantula…But as she gritted her teeth through the pain, she certainly thought she saw a dog beast covered in flames. A tentative hand reached out towards the monstrous creature, as if she was verifying whether he was an illusion just like the rest of this cave. All she felt was heat.

“Cerberus? Where’d you go? Dammit, it wasn’t this dark earlier!”

“Cerberus? Is that the name of your dog creature, whoever you are? And would you and Cerberus care to help a girl out?”

It seemed like Cerberus himself was a light source, and his owner would perhaps be worse for wear himself if he didn’t follow the sound of Elesa’s voice. The Gym Leader only hoped that he would be able to move here with haste.

In Need of Courage [Open Rp]

The Cave of Valor was a place that not many citizens of Arcadios sought out, and Elesa understood why. It was damp and cold, with a lack of feeling, save for the strange sense of sadness and fear. It was faint at first, perhaps giving the cave an innocent feeling, as if to lure unsuspecting travelers in. Yet, it was obvious, the sense of fear was still there, lying in wait for anyone unsuspecting enough to waltz through its threshold.

Elesa herself would have perhaps been one such traveler if she did not gather information about the location first. She had been to the other two villages’ ‘main attractions’ already, but found the cave to be a bit of a mystery. It appeared to be a location that fed off fears. Elesa thought that notion was a bit dubious, but still decided to give the cave a go. She still showed quite a bit of interest in every little corner of Arcadios, even the places she was unsure about.

The Gym Leader didn’t hesitate to enter the cave. It was large and spacious, with very little danger running abound, at least at first. There were a few rats running amok and a few rocks to trip over, but with her Zebstrika out of its Pokeball, such dangers were nonexistent. The Pokemon’s light glow created a natural lightbulb of sorts, something that gave Elesa the advantage at night no matter what her surroundings were.

The deeper they traveled, the darker it grew. It was growing so dark, that Zebstrika was a strong requirement here and not just a suggestion. Hands steadying against rock faces, Elesa was starting to wonder if this cave was really focused on your fears. On the other hand, she naturally felt uneasy in caves, so maybe this was just the work of the fear chamber creeping up on her.

Everything was going fine, really, a bit claustrophobic and uneasy, but decent, nonetheless. That is, until the cave began to shake. First lightly at first, but then, strong enough to be a full blown quake! Elesa and her Pokemon were both thrown against the side of the cave, though she found herself unaware whether it was the quake’s fault, or her own carelessness. The Gym Leader was told that the cave merely worked your fears against you, even going so far as to create illusions, so maybe…this was one such illusion. Illusion or not, the earthquake still increased in magnitude, and Elesa’s body was found worse for wear.

The earthquake subsided, but Elesa was still more than a little frazzled by the encounter. The palms of her hands balanced against the wall, though her feet were unable to pick herself up. An ankle was surely strained during the ordeal. Her Pokemon showed similar strain upon one of his back legs, as he limped his way towards his partner’s side. A wide, equine head lowered, resting upon Elesa’s knee. The quake did not return, luckily, though Elesa would not be surprised if it was replaced by another one of her fears.

Suddenly, another source of light danced around the corner, enticing Elesa almost. The thought that someone else, hopefully a would be rescuer, was coming around the bend was fortunate news, indeed. Then again, the approaching person could be hostile as well, weighing a thought of dread in Elesa’s mind. Both thoughts balanced in Elesa’s mind, like a set of scales, the approaching figure being the one who would tip the scales in favor of one outcome over another.

introduction

toosexyformyahoge:

Snivy hopped off of his shoulder and started to look around. Cheren did not want the small Pokemon to wander too far, but instead of calling it back to him, he brought his attention back to what the Gym Leader in front of him was saying. Well, she wasn’t exactly a Gym Leader anymore, huh—?

The things she was saying sounded completely bizarre and it almost annoyed him. He silently wondered if this woman was trying to play a trick on him or undermine his intelligence. However, from what he did know of Elesa, she was not the type to do that. Nor would she lie at a time like this about a matter this serious. She was most definitely telling the truth to him. He put a hand on his chin thoughtfully, trying to take everything in.

Arcadios was not a name that was familiar to him in the slightest. How far away from the rest of the universe could it really be? This all sounded like something out of a story book world to him. And d-destruction of the world? He worried about the rest of his Pokemon and all of his friends. The thought almost pained him. He was safe here, along with Elesa, but what about everyone else from his world? This was preposterous! They had to have survived— At Elesa telling him not to worry, he took a deep breath and pulled himself out of the panic that was about to take place inside of his head. It was the biggest relief when she had mentioned Bianca was safe. So, ditsy Bianca had managed to survive… That means the others had to for sure. Not to undermine Bianca or anything.

“S-so, Bianca is safe?” It was definitely good to know, because he had definitely been worried about her immensely. Although he was always a jerk to Bianca, he could not deny the fact that he held her very dear to him and she was one of his closest friends.

Elesa offering to show him where he was staying was a huge relief. This place had seemed pretty big and it would have been an inconvenient struggle to find it himself, not like the stubborn male would ever admit that.

“Yes, it is best we do get moving. Knowing Snivy, he would not have the slightest issue fending off the beasts, however, it has been a rather long day and our strength might not be … the best right now.”

“I’m supposed to be staying in … the Village of Strength.” It startled him that the name of his apparent residence came to him in almost a natural manner.

Zebstrika found himself keeping an eye on Cheren’s Snivy, as both trainers seemed to be more preoccupied with the overload of information issuing from Elesa’s mouth. The female was all too aware of how ridiculous she sounded, giving Cheren an almost sheepish look as he digested the information. It seemed though, that he believed her, which was certainly a relief. Usually people just went along with what she said, but Cheren was certainly a bit on the skeptical side. Because of that, she was almost worried about his opinion.

With her keen eyes, she noticed he was bothered by her information, but then again, who wouldn’t be? Cheren just learned that everyone he knew was either here, or gone. Not dead, but still…gone. Even with their serious attitudes, it was still clear that both Elesa and Cheren cared about their friends and colleagues.

“S-so, Bianca is safe?”

An amused smile was sent towards Cheren. It was clear that Elesa saw through his thoughts with relative ease. She would be foolish not to have noticed his friendship with Bianca, particularly since the young blonde was often quite chatty about her ebony haired friend. The Gym Leader would have to plan a meeting between the two, or at the very least, alert Bianca of her friend’s presence.

“M’hmm! She’s the only one that I know of from our region, that’s here at the moment, but I’ve meet those from other regions! Seeing them around gives me hope that we might see more of our old friends running around.”

“I’m supposed to be staying in … the Village of Strength.”

“Ah, so you know that at least. It seems like all of us do, even upon arrival. Strange, how Sophia works.”

Elesa turned away from Cheren, her acute sense of direction already pinpointing where the villages were. Both of them had strong Pokemon, though Elesa still feared that there was a chance of being caught off guard by the local creatures. She had her own strong idea of how to survive in this place, and rule one was not to underestimate the wild fauna lurking the forests at night.

“Now then, lets head back to your Village first thing and spend the rest of the day relaxing, hm?”

It was then that she noticed that both Zebstrika and Snivy were idling off a bit. The grass snake seemed curious about his surroundings, while the zebra seemed more than ready to keep him in line. Of course, that’s all that Elesa could gain from her observations. She certainly wasn’t a mind reader.

Giving her three companions a curt nod, the Gym Leader began to walk towards the direction of the villages. Better head off now before trouble strikes, right?

Swamped With…Hugs? || Elesa || (Dare)

paradoxical-hero:

“I guess the title of soldier works for me,” he replied. Though, he was a bit shocked that Elesa hadn’t pinned him down as a combatant of any sort. Indeed, he wasn’t like most soldiers, who were stoic, reserved, and serious.

Maybe it had been because of his upbringing, or the lonely environment that surrounded him and forced him to remain positive and compassionate for his fellow hunters. There were many possible explanations, but only one which Noel settled on for himself. “I’m more of a hunter. One that was training to become the protector of our village’s seeress.”

“But really? I didn’t across as one?” As he walked beside her, Noel couldn’t help but bite his lip in disappointment. “Guess I need to be a bit more…serious, I guess…” Which was something he would never want to resort to, as that would only detract others from wanting to meet him.

Elesa’s calm and collected reply wasn’t too much of a surprise for Noel. There was almost always one serious person within every circle of friends. “Must be tough for your friends that love you, huh?” Noel waved his hands back and forth on his sides, hopping over a large stone and landing into moist marsh. “I mean, I can understand about giving one some space and all, but…I’m sure those kinds of solitary people eventually get a little lonely.”

“So you have someone special, then? I cannot say I’m surprised.”

“Oh, she was special alright,” he mumbled, feeling his eyes soften. Noel crossed his arms, remembering the blue-haired seeress that had been his very first crush.

Yeul. The frail girl of fifteen who could foretell her own death. And yet, she had always fashioned a smile on her face, knowing that the future to come would be a happy one. It was optimism like hers that spurred Noel to change the future, to make it a better place — all for her. “But you could say that she was…kind of outta my league.” He rolled his head back to look at Elesa with a small smile. “It…wouldn’t have really worked out.” Especially if the seeress had to fall dead in his arms every waking moment.

“To be blunt, I find you to be quite the looker.”

Mixed with stiffness and seriousness, Noel didn’t quite know how to take the compliment. “Well, uh, you’re pretty pretty yourself.” He of course, meant in the same objective way as she — only, it came out as a bit more awkward than he would have preferred. He cleared his throat, brushing Elesa’s comment away. ”But hey, what about you, huh? I’m sure you must’ve found someone sometime or another.”

The sight of something looming in the distance caused Elesa to almost forget about her conversation with Noel. Footsteps screeched to a halt, swampy mud congealing around her legs. She had never been in this part of Arcadios, not even once, and swamplands weren’t common in Unova. It took her a moment to remember she was still speaking to Noel.

“Guess I need to be a bit more…serious, I guess…”

“You should sweat it. I’m sure you made a fine hunter and protector. Not everyone needs to have a personality matching their occupation. Many people have assumed me to be an airhead at first sight because of my beauty.”

A light smirk touched her lips. Really, it was a bit pathetic how stereotypes worked.  Noel was just fine the way he was and so is Elesa. There should be no need to change just to fit in the conforms of society. If anything, there should be a need to break free from such stereotypes.

“Must be tough for your friends that love you, huh?”

Elesa stopped walking, her body sinking even more into the mud. Tough, huh? Funny, she never thought about that. She always just assumed that Burgh or Skyla just accepted her cool demeanor. But instead, were they trying to relieve her from loneliness? What loneliness? She was and always had been perfectly fine. Right?

A light sniff accompanied by her feet choosing higher ground to walk upon was her only response for a few moments. The Gym Leader was almost cold then, but it disappeared in a flash. There was no need to show signs of weakness or bother at what Noel had said. He didn’t mean anything wrong at that, at least that’s what Elesa hoped.

“Yes, well, all of my friends were fine with the way I act, both the more serious and more silly kinds. There was a lack of strife between me and others, I assure you. I was never lonely, I assure you.”

”But hey, what about you, huh? I’m sure you must’ve found someone sometime or another.”

“Romance causes unnecessary distractions in my line of work, particularly considering my popularity. I wouldn’t let my feelings overcome me to the point that I forget how far I’ve gone, and I certainly don’t want any hack rumor laden reporters goofing off about my love life.”

Elesa sighed, tilting her head away. There were times when she wanted a relationship, even a casual one, but she wouldn’t know where to start. Her career had always come first, and now, well now, she didn’t really have to worry about things. She could probably date whoever the hell she wanted and no one would bat an eyelash.

“I have found others in the past, yes, but I have never acted upon my feelings. Not properly, anyway.”

Elesa’s head was still focused away from Noel, which was perhaps for the better. She didn’t want him to see her bit lip or knit eyebrows. It really wasn’t fair, it seemed, that neither of them were able to be with the ones they loved. It was funny though, that Elesa had almost never thought about this, but suddenly, someone brings up the topic of romance and she realized how lonely she was in the end.

“I suppose we’re in a similar boat, then.”
